Typecast - A Short Film (2017)

The Process

This was one of my first short films created during college. Many challenges came with this story, including finding reasonable locations, actors who can handle the subject and figuring out how to shoot in a car with only myself as a grip/cinematographer.

From the beginning, I knew I would need to make an out-of-pocket budget to create this film. Previous experience with unpaid actors cancelling being the most prominent reason, I created a budget of roughly $200 dollars in actor payments and location rentals and spent $150 by the end of the production.

The most challenging moment for filming was getting the kant angle in the car. After realizing the confinements of the car, I put my camera, and my head, onto the floorboard and my feet onto the head rest of the passenger seat.
